Faith Formation Information 2020-2021

For the 2020-2021 school year, there have been some changes made to accommodate a new structure for the Tri-Parishes, as well as to recognize the difficulties we are facing during the COVID-19 crisis.  Beginning this year, when we can return to in-person classes, each church in the Tri-Parish community will offer classes for Grades 1-10 at their own location.  This is a change from years past when certain grades were not available at every parish.  We hope this change encourages families to attend Mass together at their registered parish and to worship and participate fully in the life of their parish.  Also, because of the financial burdens our communities have experienced this year, we have chosen to temporarily reduce our Tuition Donation rates to help our families.  Please see the notation below for the new rates.

With the prevalence of COVID-19 in our community, the Tri-Parish Faith Formation program has elected to begin our program both later in the year, and remotely for at least part of the year.  More information about our online hybrid learning program for all grades will be available as we begin our new year.  Our anticipated start date for Faith Formation in all grade levels is the week of October 18.

All students in grades 1 through 10 who will be attending our Faith Formation program beginning in Fall 2020 must register prior to the start of classes.  If you have any questions, please call your parish office at the number above.

REGISTRATION & FEES: Please fill out both sides and sign the registration form. The fees for 2020-2021 are: one child - $65, two children - $100, three or more children - $115. Please note these are temporary rates for the 2020-2021 year.  You may mail or drop off your registration form and payment to your parish office, or place it in the collection basket (in a separate envelope, with “Faith Formation” clearly written on the front). We are unable to accept any child in the program without a registration form. Please make checks or money orders payable to your registered parish, even if your child will attend classes at one of the other parishes. To pay by bank account or credit card, please click the link on this page.

Our Faith Formation fees only cover about one half of the total cost of our program.  The balance is paid out of parish funds.  If you are able to contribute more to offset our costs and enable a family in need to participate in our program, we welcome all donations.  If the fee is a hardship for your family, please call the faith formation office as soon as possible to make confidential payment plan or financial aid arrangements.

No student will be turned away for inability to pay

CALENDAR:  Classes will begin in mid-October and run through late April.  Families in sacramental years (i.e., First Communion II and Confirmation II) may need to attend some additional preparation sessions including retreats, parent meetings, and rehearsals, when we are able to meet in person.  Remember that the sacramental programs for First Communion and Confirmation are two-year programs.  Schedules will be published in the bulletin and sent home with your child.

SPECIAL NEEDS: We can accommodate students with some special educational needs in our regular classes, or if appropriate, place your child in a special needs group. If you feel that your child may need special accommodations, please call the faith formation office as early as possible so that we may work together to create the best environment for your child to grow in the faith.

“MISSED” SACRAMENTS: The Tri-Parishes offer a Rite of Christian Initiation program for students who have not received their sacraments (Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and/or Confirmation) at the usual ages. Please call to inquire.

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: All students seeking Confirmation must complete our two-year Confirmation program, usually in grades 9 and 10.The Catholic High School curriculum does not include Confirmation preparation. Please share this information with families of high school students who might not be on our mailing list!

CATECHISTS: Please contact the faith formation office if you are interested in becoming a Catechist. We offer training and support to all our teachers, and you will receive a 50% discount off your children’s tuition. You will also find great fulfillment and joy in helping to pass along our Catholic faith to a new generation.

God bless you and your family.  We look forward to working with you to help your child become an enthusiastic disciple of Jesus Christ!
